WhatsApp recently introduced its Channels feature in India, following its successful rollout in select regions. This Instagram-like feature, which went global just last week, provides users with a simple, secure, and private means to receive important updates from individuals and organizations within the WhatsApp platform. Recently, they also released a feature to use two WhatsApp accounts in one mobile.
What are WhatsApp Channels?
WhatsApp Channels function as one-way broadcasting tools that allow administrators to share various types of content, including text messages, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. The company is actively developing a searchable directory to help users discover channels that match their interests. This directory will enable users to explore channels related to their hobbies, sports teams, local authority updates, and more. Additionally, users can join WhatsApp Channels by following invitation links shared within chats, emails, or on the internet. How to Delete a WhatsApp Channel:
If you’ve created a WhatsApp Channel and now wish to delete it, here’s how you can do it. However, it’s important to note some key considerations before proceeding:
Things to Keep in Mind:
- Deleting your channel is a permanent action. Once deleted, you won’t be able to make updates from it again.
- Existing followers will still be able to find your channel, but they will receive a system message indicating that your channel was deleted. Your previous updates will remain accessible on their devices.
- Non-followers (viewers) will no longer be able to see your channel or its updates. It won’t be discoverable in searches anymore, and new users won’t be able to follow it. Additionally, any sharing links associated with your channel will no longer work.
Steps to Delete Your WhatsApp Channel:
- Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Navigate to the Updates tab (on mobile) or the Channels page (on the web), and locate your channel. Tap or click to open it.
- Inside your channel, tap or click on your channel name.
- Select “Delete channel” and confirm your action by entering your phone number.
- Finally, tap or click “Delete.”
Once the deletion process is successful, you will receive a confirmation message stating, “You deleted your channel,” in the Updates tab.
WhatsApp recently released multiple features like Sharing Screens on WhatsApp, Sharing HD Photos on WhatsApp, a Video Messaging Feature for iPhone Users and Group video calls using WhatsApp on Mac.
