How to Apply e-Pass

The lockdown in India has reached version 4.0 starting today to stop coronavirus spread. Now, if you are wondering how to apply e-pass using government’s new e-Pass website then please go through the steps we have shared here for you. The Government of India has launched new e-Pass website developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) which currently provides e-Pass services for 17 states across India.

However, the government has announced several relaxations for lockdown 4.0 to ease the life of people. But, if people want to move from one state to another for some specific reason they can apply for e-Pass. In this new e-Pass website you can fill the form and need to provide due proof of travel requirement with all the requisite details. Once, form submitted users can also check the status of your e-Pass application.

The Government of India has also launched a new app called ‘Aarogya Setu’. This coronavirus tracking mobile app helps to combat the coronavirus epidemic by warning users if they have crossed paths with someone who has tested COVID-19 positive.

Here are the list of people who can apply for e-Pass and for below reasons:

  • Students
  • Essential service providers
  • Tourists
  • Pilgrims
  • Emergency/medical travel
  • For marriage purposes

How to apply for e-pass

1. Open Service Online website ‘http://serviceonline.gov.in/epass/’

2. Click on tab which says ‘Apply for e-Pass’

3. Select your state from the drop down menu ‘Select State to Apply e-Pass’.

4. A List of ePass Services for selected state will appear below the field, which is different for all states.

5. For example if you have selected Assam state. Below e-Pass are being offered by this state.

  • Issuance of Essential Service Pass
  • Issuance of e-Pass for delivery of essential commodities
  • e-Pass for Inter State Stranded Persons

6. Select the service you are looking for, you will be redirected to the state e-pass portal.

7. Fill in the form with necessary details, upload the required documents and submit the application.

8. Once submitted you will receive the Application Reference number. You need to note it down to track the status of your application.

How to check status of e-Pass application

1. Open Service Online website ‘http://serviceonline.gov.in/epass/’

2. Click on tab ‘Track Your Application’.

3. Select your state from the drop down menu ‘Select state for which you have submitted the application’.

4. A new pop window will appear with two options to track application.

  • Through Application Reference Number
  • Through OTP/Application Details

5. You can choose any of the two options but since you have noted down Application Reference number. You need to choose ‘Through Application Reference Number’

6. Enter Application Reference Number in the required box, fill-in the Captcha and click on Submit button.

7. You e-Pass application status will appear on the screen.
