Instagram testing to allow users post their Stories directly to WhatsApp

integration of Stories between Instagram and WhatsApp

Last year in October, Facebook expanded the usage of Instagram Stories by allowing the users to combine photos and videos into a slideshow. The company also made it very easy to post a Story directly to Facebook. Currently, the social networking giant is looking at ways on integration of Stories between Instagram and WhatsApp.

According to TechCrunch post, the company is presently running a test to allow the users to post their Stories directly from Instagram to WhatsApp as a WhatsApp Status. As usual, this status will then disappear after 24 hours. Just like everything on WhatsApp, even the Instagram story posted on the app will be encrypted.

A spokesperson said,

“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you.”

We are expecting this feature to be available already for some users who have the test access. It is essentially based on the public code of WhatsApp to integrate the third-party apps. Once available to all the users, you will be able to share the Instagram Stories to WhatsApp on a single tap “Send”.

According to Facebook, there were more than 300 million daily active stories on Instagram in November last year. We can expect this integration to add more users on both the apps. We can also expect it to be used very widely in countries like India where there are good number of users for both WhatsApp and Instagram. Recently, Facebook tested Collections feature which is more Instagrammy. The company has named it collections and it works more like how the collections work on Instagram.

At the end of the day, all these new numbers will increase the popularity of Facebook as it owns both the Instagram and WhatsApp. What are your views on the integration of Stories between Instagram and WhatsApp? Share us them in the comments section below.
