If you are a user of both Cortana and Alexa, there is good news for you. The Microsoft and Amazon have partnered to make the ‘Alexa Cortana’ combination possible. Later in this year, when the integration is done and the ‘Cortana Alexa’ support is rolled out via updates, you will be able to access Alexa through Cortana on Windows 10 PCs, Android and iOS devices. Similarly, Cortana can also be accessed via Alexa-enabled devices such as Echo Show, Echo Dot and Amazon Echo.

Good news, isn’t it? Because, the Alexa users will be able to use the special features of Cortana like accessing work calendars or booking a meeting, reading work email with voice, reminding you to choose flowers on your way home. Likewise, the Cortana users will also be able to use the features of Alexa such as controlling the smart home devices, shopping on Amazon.com and much more.
Jeff Bezos, Founder, and CEO, Amazon said,
The world is big and so multifaceted. There are going to be multiple successful intelligent agents, each with access to different sets of data and with different specialized skill areas. Together, their strengths will complement each other and provide customers with a richer and even more helpful experience. It’s great for Echo owners to get easy access to Cortana.
Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft said,
Ensuring Cortana is available for our customers everywhere and across any device is a key priority for us. Bringing Cortana’s knowledge, Office 365 integration, commitments, and reminders to Alexa is a great step toward that goal.
Very soon, you can say “Hey Cortana, Open Alexa”. The collaboration of both the companies will definitely make the world better than ever before.
