As, expected Xiaomi Redmi 5 launched in India today. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 was announced last year in December at an event in China. To recall It packs a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 full-screen display and is powered by Snapdragon 450. It comes in two variants in 2G and 3GB RAM and relies on a 3300 mAh battery. It runs Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with MIUI 9, has a 12 MP rear camera with 1.25μm pixel size sensor and a 5 MP front-facing camera with selfie flash. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Display

The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display at a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels with 450 nits brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 72% NTSC color gamut.

Platform

It is powered by 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU and runs on MIUI 9 which is based on Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with MIUI 9.

Storage

The device comes with 2 GB / 3 GB / 4 GB RAM, 16 GB / 32 GB / 64 internal storage. The storage memory can be expanded to 128 GB using the microSD card.

Camera

It has 12MP rear camera with LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash.

Connectivity and Sensors

The device is equipped with fingerprint and infrared sensors besides supporting 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS and Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD) connectivity features.

The mobile packs 3300 mAh (typical) / 3200 mAh battery and weighs 157 grams with 151.8 × 72.8 × 7.7mm size measurements.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is priced at Rs. 7999 for the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version, for 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version it is priced at Rs. 8,999 and for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version it is priced at Rs. 10,999.  It comes in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue colors and is available starting March 20th exclusively from Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores.
