As promised, the Xiaomi announced the company’s latest smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi 5 at an event in China. Redmi 5, which sports a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 full-screen display comes in 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variants. It is powered by Snapdragon 450 and relies on a 3300 mAh battery.

Display
The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display at a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels with 450 nits brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 72% NTSC color gamut.

It is powered by 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU and runs on MIUI 9 which is based on Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) out of the box.
Storage
The device comes with 2 GB / 3 GB RAM and 16 GB / 32 GB internal storages. The storage memory can be expanded to 128 GB using the microSD card.
Camera
It has 12MP rear camera with LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash.

The device is equipped with fingerprint and infrared sensors besides supporting 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS and Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD) connectivity features.

The mobile packs 3300 mAh (typical) / 3200 mAh battery and weighs 157 grams with 151.8 × 72.8 × 7.7mm size measurements.
Price and availability
Redmi 5 will be available in Rose Gold, Gold, Light Blue and Black colors at a price of 799 Yuan and 899 Yuan for the 2 GB RAM and 3 GB RAM variants respectively.
