As promised, the Xiaomi launched the company’s latest smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi Y1 in the latest ‘Redmi Y’ series in India. The mobile really met our expectations. It sports 5.5-inch HD screen, packs 13-megapixel primary camera and 16-megapixel front camera with LED Flash on the front as well as back.

The mobile that has a metal-like finish on the back with aluminium alloy frame runs on MIUI 8 which is based on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box. It is also equipped with a fingerprint sensor on board that can unlock the smartphone in 0.03 seconds.

It is powered by 1.4GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 435 Mobile Platform with Adreno 505 GPU and runs on MIUI 8 which is based on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box. The OS can be upgraded later to MIUI 9.

The mobile will be available in 3 GB RAM – 32 GB ROM and 4 GB RAM – 64 GB ROM storage variants. The storage memory can be expanded to 128 GB using the microSD card.

It has 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and 16MP front-facing camera with LED flash, OmniVision sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 76.4-degree wide-angle lens.

The mobile is equipped with Infrared and Fingerprint sensors on board besides supporting 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS and Dual SIM connectivity features.
Battery and Dimensions
The mobile packs 3080mAh (typical) / 3000mAh (minimum) battery and weighs 153 grams with 153× 76.2 × 7.7mm size measurements.
Price and availability
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 will be available in Dark Gray and Gold colors at a price of Rs 8999 and Rs 10999 for the 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM variants respectively exclusively via Amazon.in and Mi.com from November 8.
