The popular photography community app, Instagram is currently testing a new feature for a small number of users. This news which was initially spotted by Pippa Akram and The Next Web says that the app will allow the users to follow a hashtag. For instance, you can search for a hashtag and follow it to see the top posts and recent stories of it.
The company might be working on this new feature to make those users happy who are upset now due to the recent algorithmic feed update. Because since then, most of the posts we want to see are found in the bottom of the feed.
That being said, there isn’t much difference between the Facebook and Instagram these days. In fact the current decisions and the move taken by the company clearly tells that the child app is also serious about engaging with its users like the parent app.

However, this new update when available to all the users will not really bring much changes in your feed. The only difference is that you will be able to view the recent and top posts surrounding the chosen hashtag. This will be useful for those of you who want to follow posts based on your interests and not the social graph.
Ok this is new. What does this do @SimonSocialMM @BizPaul @NatalieTFG any ideas? I’ve followed 2 but can’t find what that means!! pic.twitter.com/LlCBk4Wmfv

It will also be useful for those of you who don’t want to follow new accounts. For instance, if you are interested in a particular gadget like iPhone X and want to know more about it, you will not have to follow more accounts related to the smartphone anymore. Instead, you can follow the #iPhoneX hashtag to find all the popular and recent stories of the iPhone X smartphone.
Once introduced, it might help your photos to reach out to more people. But for those of you out there who are still struggling to fetch more followers like me, this news might be disturbing though. In my case, though I have a #takeapicwithderin hashtag, I am not sure whether how many souls are going to really follow it as I am still struggling to increase the followers of my account.
