Log on to https://shop.oculus.com/en-us/cart/ and download the Rift compatibility tool. You don’t have to pre-order the Oculus Rift to download the tool. All you have to do is just hit the download button and wait for the file with “.exe” extension to get downloaded.
After the download is finished, open the “.exe” file. A window opens where it allows you to choose to send your system specifications to Oculus by selecting the checkbox just above the “start button”. However, as it is not mandatory, I deselected the checkbox and my results were not affected.
Now go ahead and hit the start button. The program will analyze your system specification and see whether your PC is ready for a virtual reality experience. The results are displayed as shown in the screenshot below.
It is very evident from the screenshot above that my PC is not ready yet for a Virtual Reality experience.
Using this tool, you will be able to check only whether Oculus Rift is compatible with your PC or not. Anyways, at the end of the day these results will help you to decide whether you have to upgrade your system in order to use any other Virtual Reality device.
