Panasonic announced the company’s latest Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 rugged handheld smartphone. This rugged smartphone has been introduced basically for enterprise customers. It has integrated barcode scanner with two trigger buttons on both sides of the device. It also has a separate long and short range barcode scanning accessory for inventory management such as scanning from forklifts, shelf stocking, assisted sales or order taking and queue busting.

It is designed for military standard 810G, dust and water resistant to IP68 and weighs 240 grams. It has been tested of withstanding drops of up to 1.5m, and operating within a temperature range of -10 to +50C. For security it is FIPS140-2 level-1 compliant and built-in ARM TrustZone.

The mobile sports a 5-inch, anti-reflective, daylight viewable, 10 point multi touch capacitive touchscreen supporting glove and rain mode with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.


It is powered by 1.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 (APQ8009) Mobile Platform with Adreno 304 GPU and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo).


The device comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, the memory can be expanded using microSD card.


It has 8MP rear camera with LED flash.

Connectivity & Sensors

The mobile supports 4G LTE (Optional), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS/aGPS. It has 3 Microphones (x2 front, x1 rear), speaker (up to 90 dB). It has Enterprise level security and manageability (COMPASS).

Battery and Dimensions

The mobile packs 3200mAh removable battery with up to 12 hours of continuous data access. It has a size measurement of 75 x 154 x 13.1~17.5mm and weight is 240g.

Price and availability

The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 handheld is priced at £1,214 (US$ 1,615 / 1,09,520 approx.). And, the Wi-Fi version is priced at £1,142 (US$ 1,520 / 1,03,024 approx.). It will be available in August 2018 while the 4G voice and data version will be available from September 2018 across Europe.

The company will also sell accessories including barcode reader guns, single and multiple chargers and cradles, holster belts, battery packs, passive stylus pens and protective display films separately.
