For Xiaomi devices with 18:9 aspect ratio, MIUI 9.5 brings full-screen gestures – Here’s how to enable it

After the launch of iPhone X, Android manufacturers have started adopting gesture support and certainly Xiaomi doesn’t want to remain behind in the race. Xiaomi had introduced Mi MIX 2 the only device launched in India with 18:9 aspect ratio. Later, the other Xiaomi devices like Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro were launched in India with 18:9 ratio.

Xiaomi announced in their post through MI Community that it will roll out the Full Screen gestures for all 18:9 aspect ratio devices with MIUI 9.5. As, you know that Xiaomi released the MIUI 9.5 Stable ROM with New Notification Shade, Quick Replies and many more features for a list of Xiaomi devices last week.

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Full screen display’ option.
  2. On the next screen select ‘Full screen gestures’ radio button option
  3. The phone will show a dialogue box to show a tutorial, you can swipe left or right to go back. And, to go back to Home screen you can swipe from Bottom.
  4. You can also enable/disable animation for the ‘Go Back’ gesture, and can also choose and force apps to work in full screen mode.
