Xiaomi Redmi 5A launched in India with 5″ HD display starting from Rs 4999

As expected, Xiaomi launched the company’s latest budget smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi 5A in India. The mobile packs 5-inch HD display and runs on MIUI 9 which is based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) out of the box. It is powered by a combination of Snapdragon 425 processor and comes 2 GB / 3 GB RAM variants. The mobile has 13-megapixel primary camera with LED Flash, PDAF and 5-megapixel front camera.

Unlike the Chinese version which has Hybrid Dual SIM slots, the Indian version of the Redmi 5A smartphone comes with only dual SIM slots.

Display

The mobile sports a 5-inch HD IPS display at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with 1000: 1 contrast ratio, 72% (typ) / 68% (min) color gamut.

Platform

It is powered by 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform with 500MHz Adreno 308 GPU and runs on MIUI 9 which is based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) out of the box.

Storage

  • The device comes in 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variants. While the former is equipped with 16 GB Internal storage, the latter comes with 32 GB Internal storage.
  • The storage memory can be expanded to 128 GB using the microSD card.

Camera

It has 13MP rear camera with PDAF, LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p video recording and 5MP front-facing camera, f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity and Sensors

The device is equipped with Infrared sensor besides supporting 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS and Dual SIM connectivity features.

Battery and Dimensions

The mobile packs 3000mAh (typical) / 2910mAh (minimum) and weighs 137 grams with 3000mAh (typical) / 2910mAh (minimum) size measurements.

Price and availability

Redmi 5A smartphone will be available in Rose Gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver colors at a price of Rs 4999 and Rs 5999 for the 2 GB RAM – 16 GB ROM and 3 GB RAM – 32 GB ROM variants respectively.
