  • Navigate to Settings > System > Storage
  • Now toggle on the Storage Sense option.
  • Select Change how we free up space.
  • Check Delete files in my Downloads folder that haven’t changed for over 30 days and Delete temporary files that my apps aren’t using.

Another important point to be noted here is that not every file in the download folder will be deleted automatically, but only the ones which you haven’t touched at all for a period of 30 days.
