Apple introduces Daisy, new Recycling Robot and a special Earth Day badge for Apple Watch users

Apple’s latest innovation in material recovery is ‘Daisy’ a new recycling robot that can disassemble nine different iPhone models to recover valuable materials that traditional recyclers cannot. Apple also announced ahead of Earth Day that for every device received at Apple stores through the Apple GiveBack program until April 30th starting today, will make a donation to the non-profit Conservation International.

The Apple Daisy robot is created through years of R&D, it incorporates revolutionary technology based on Apple’s learnings from Liam. This robot disassemble iPhone in the most efficient way to reclaim the valuable materials stored in iPhone and sort their high quality components for recycling. It is also capable of disassembling and sorting parts from up to 200 iPhones per hour.

Apple let their customer to return their devices at any Apple Store or through apple.com as part of Apple GiveBack program to be recycled or traded in. On top of it all the eligible devices that are returned, customers will receive credit that they can use toward an in-store purchase or put on an Apple Store Gift Card for future use.

In recognition of Earth Day, we are making it as simple as possible for our customers to recycle devices and do something good for the planet through Apple GiveBack. We’re also thrilled to introduce Daisy to the world, as she represents what’s possible when innovation and conservation meet.

Apple also announced that on the occasion of Earth Day, Apple Watch users can earn a special Earth Day badge. On Saturday, all Apple Watch users will receive a notification about the Earth Day Challenge, an activity encouraging them to get outside, enjoy the planet and complete a 30 minute workout on that day. Users who finish this task will receive a special achievement and unique stickers in iMessage.

Apple’s commitment to create a healthier planet through innovation is supported by both Apple GiveBack and Daisy support. There is no doubt that the company is moving a step closer to its goal of making its products using only renewable or recycled materials.
