Besides introducing the Redmi 5, Xiaomi had also announced Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus at an event in China. The mobile which sports a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 full-screen view display comes in 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor and relies on a 4000 mAh battery. Although, Xiaomi Redmi 5 was announced last year in December at an event in China, Redmi 5 launched in India on 14th March and expected date for the launch of Redmi 5 Plus is 30th March this year at a expected price of Rs. 9999.

Display

The smartphone sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display at a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels with 1000:1 contrast ratio, 84 % NTSC color gamut and 450 nits brightness.

Platform

It is powered by a 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU and runs on MIUI 9 which is based on Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) out of the box.

Storage

The device comes with 3 GB / 4 GB RAM with 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage options. The storage memory can be expanded to 128 GB using the microSD card.

Camera

It has 12MP rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash.

Connectivity and Sensors

The device is equipped with fingerprint and infrared sensors besides supporting 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS and Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD) connectivity features.

Battery and Dimensions

The mobile packs a 4000mAh (typcial) / 3900mAh (minimum) battery and weighs 180 grams with 158.5 x 75.45 x 8.05mm size measurements.

Price and availability

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is available in Rose Gold, Gold, Light Blue and Black colors at a price of 999 Yuan and 1299 Yuan for the 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants respectively in China from December 12.
