Microsoft has published a blog post that says that the Skype for Android phones running 4.0.3 to 5.1 have been optimized. The new optimized version of Skype will be rolled out worldwide in next few days.

The new optimized version of Skype is lighter both in RAM usage and storage wise. It also allows better audio and video quality on lower-end Android devices with great speed in challenging network conditions. The Skype optimized version has been rolled out through Google Play, so it may take few days until it is available for all the users worldwide.
