Google has updated the Google Tez payments app with new chat option service now. The new chat option in Google Tez app is not available to everyone right away. But, it is being rolled out in batches. With over 13.5 million active users they are certainly going to give a tough competition to WhatsApp and Paytem apps.
Google Tez service was launched last year in September for Android and iOS with the facility of payments between bank accounts using UPI (Unified Payments Interface) protocol. The new chat option update will allow consumers to not only send and receive money but also open up an option for conversation around the transaction.
The Google Tez payment app chat function will only be accessible if both parties are having the latest version of the Tez app installed on their mobile devices. If, you have got the update you can click on the ‘chat’ button which is present right next to the ‘Pay’ and ‘Request’ buttons in the app. You have also other option like to block any contact or disable the chat thread if not required.
Google’s spokesperson said in a statement:
We’ve added a feature to Tez that allows you to send simple messages back and forth to your contacts about the payments you make.
Last month Google Tez app had got a major update that allows users to pay their utilities and other bills via the Google Tez app in India. So, it is clear they are certainly going to give a tough competition to both WhatsApp and Paytm. However, the other apps are also working on to provide more features like WhatsApp rolled out the WhatsApp payment feature to send and receive money. On, the other hand last year Paytm rolled out the Paytm inbox feature for its user to chat and transfer money using just this one app.
It will be interesting to see how all these apps are upgrading their feature for their users. At, the end of the day we are going to get benefited and just have to decide which app suits our needs better.
