We all know that the Facebook is in the pursuit of making the site cleaner by introducing measures on the circulation of the fake news. In fact, the Mark Zuckerberg himself has taken it as one of his New Year resolutions to make the Facebook better than ever before. In its latest move towards achieving this aim, the social networking platform announced that it will offer features to prioritize the news from the local sources in the newsfeed.

The content that will appear in the newsfeed will also depend on the publications that the user follows or has shared stories from.

Regarding the chage, Mark Zuckerberg posted on his official profile,

Many people told me they thought that if we could turn down the temperature on the more divisive issues and instead focus on concrete local issues, then we’d all make more progress together. Local news helps build community — both on and offline. It’s an important part of making sure the time we all spend on Facebook is valuable. This update may not capture all small or niche-interest publishers at first, but we are working to improve precision and coverage over time. All of our work to reduce false news, misinformation, clickbait, sensationalism and inauthentic accounts still applies.

Over the years, the Facebook has evolved to become a platform which offers only clickbaits, inauthentic accounts and misleading information. There were several instances where the fake news spread faster than the speed of light across the nations. Reports also claim that these false practices have influenced the recent US Presidential elections as well. In the wake of all these happening incidents, we can clearly say that the Facebook is taking all the measures as possible to not only maintain its users, but also increase its popularity.
