Cat has announced Cat S61 rugged Android smartphone today ahead of MWC 2018. It is the successor of previous Cat S60. The new Cat S61 has an FLIR Lepton thermal camera with temperature range -20°C to 400°C. It also has the upgraded software with FLIR thermal imaging capability for greater image contrast. It is IP68 waterproof and dust proof up to 3m for 1 hour and is certified with MIL Spec 810G. This Cat S61 has passed the test to survive repeated drop onto concrete from 1.8m.
This smartphone has also FLIR’s MSX technology that is providing the unmatched image optimization with High-Definition detail from the visible camera. The laser assisted distance measurement feature can measure point-to-point distances up to 10m. It can also then calculate area and switch between Metric and Imperial measurement. It can provide humidity and current temperature readings. It also has the ability to alert users about the high levels of indoor air pollutant (Volatile Organic Compounds or VOCs) using the inbuilt sensor from Sensirion. That help user to either take a break or open the window to improve ventilation.

The phone sports a 5.2-inch Full HD Super Bright outdoor display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It also has auto wet finger and glove support and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

It is powered by 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 508 GPU and runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) that is upgradable to Android P

The device comes with 4GB RAM with 64GB storge that can be expanded using microSD card.

It has a 16MP rear camera with dual LED flash, PDAF and 8MP front-facing camera.

The mobile supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, Fingerprint sensor with Single / Dual SIM and 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio.

The mobile packs 4500mAh buil-in battery with Quick Charge 4.0 with 148.35 x 73.4 x 7.99 mm size and weight 163g.
Price and availability
The CAT S61 will be showcased at the MWC 2018 next week. When it goes on sale in Q2 2018 it will come with the cost of MSRP €899 (US$ 1105 / Rs. 71,820 approx.) / £799 (US$ 1110 / Rs. 72,155 approx.).
