Oculus Partners with Xiaomi to launch the Oculus Go and Mi VR Standalone powered by Qualcomm

Oculus Go and Mi VR Standalone

When two tech giants in the technology kingdom join their hands together, the rest is wonder. At the ongoing CES 2018 event, both Xiaomi and Oculus have announced their partnership and they are currently working on two standalone VR headsets – Oculus Go and Mi VR Standalone will be developed by the Xiaomi and it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. The best part is that they don’t need any mobile phone, external sensors or cable.

Oculus stated that the company has worked with Qualcomm to offer the highest possible level of performance to satisfy the high computing demands of the standalone VR gadgets.

Last year in the month of October, the Oculus Go was unveiled at a price of $199. Both the headsets have similar specifications and design including integrated spatial audio, next-generation lenses and 2K fast-switch LCD screen at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels by Oculus in addition to a trigger button and touchpad.

The audio drivers are integrated directly in the headset. They are also equipped with a 3.5 mm headphone jack for an enhanced private listening experience. While the Oculus Go will be available in around the world in the early 2018, the Mi VR Standalone will be available only in China in 2018.

Through our partnership with Xiaomi, both Oculus Go and Mi VR Standalone represent our first step in delivering that sweet spot between mobile and PC VR. These devices will be, hands down, the easiest way to get into VR.
