Two-Wheeler Mode on Google Maps launched in India

A pile of interesting features have been introduced and a few fascinating announcements have been made by the Google today in its Google for India event. That includes the launches of Google Go, Google Files Go, Google Assistant on JioPhone and Android Oreo Go for entry level smartphones. Besides these additions, Google also stated in a blog post about an upcoming feature, Two-Wheeler mode on Google Maps.

The new Two wheeler mode feature will be introduced first in India. Just as the name sounds, this new feature will help the bike riders to navigate to places using Google Maps. The great Indian sub-continent stands second in the list of largest two-wheeler markets in the world at present and more than Hundreds and thousands of scooter and motorcycle riders ride on the road in the country. They’d all need a different means of navigation unlike the ones who use other automobiles such as cars and trucks.

The latest Two wheeler mode is said to display shortcuts only to the bike riders and most of them will not be available to the car and truck drivers due to its narrow path. This mode will also give information on arrival time and customized traffic estimations. As large number of people depend on the landmarks for navigation, the motorcyle riders can have a look at the navigation route before they start their trip. This will help the users to prevent them from stopping every now and then to check on their smartphones.
