Facebook Photo Review feature will help you find the photos you are tagged in

Facebook Photo Review

Facebook wants you to have complete control over your photos even if you are not uploading them. The company has introduced Facebook Photo Review, a new facial recognition feature which will notify you when your face shows up in any of the newly posted photos. This way, you can either tag yourself or request the person who uploaded it to take down the photo or even report it to the Facebook in the worst conditions.

This feature will be helpful for people by giving them tools to make sure that their photos are not appearing around anywhere else on the Facebook. This could also bring down the impersonation. Anyways, the company has no any plans to introduce the facial recognition to develop content relevance sorting or ad targeting.

Say if you are in any person’s public profile photo, the company will always notify you. In the case of other photos, you will be notified only if you are also in the audience for that photo. At the end of the day, this new Photo Review feature will keep track of all the untagged photos, but the recognized ones.

The company is also introducing a new overarching video and photo facial recognition opt out privacy setting which will remove its face template of you and deactivate the new Photo Review feature. Facebook is also in plans to assist the vision impaired people. The machine learning feature of the company will recognize what’s in the photo and read out the names of the untagged ones in the photo.

Rob Sherman, Facebook’s Deputy Chief Privacy Officer says,

Over time our goal is to make these features available everywhere . . . but right now we’re focusing on markets where tag suggestions are available.

Once available, this feature definitely help all the users on Facebook. However, share us your views on the same in the comments section below.
