UC Browser removed from PlayStore due to a Setting and not due to malicious Ads

UC Browser

UC Browser is one of the popular browsers especially in India with more than 500 million installs on the PlayStore. But the app was recently removed from the PlayStore. According to the recent reports, a setting in the browser is the culprit. The media was earlier speculating reports that the misleading promotions or theft of the data was the reason behind the removal. In fact an employee from the company also came forward to support this claim. If you are an avid reader of our site, you must know that we did not report it and we don’t report any rumors at all.

According to a mail received by the Android Police regarding the issue, the UC Browser team claims that the company is against any sort of misleading/malicious advertising methods.

But the real problem is not the advertisements. According to the UCWeb, the real issue is due to a setting. UCWeb told Gadgets 360 in an official response:

We were informed by Google Play about temporary removal of UC Browser from the Play Store for 7 days, beginning 13 Nov 2017, under the reason that a certain setting of UC Browser is not in line with Google’s policy. We have conducted an urgent internal investigation and fixed the problem. The new version has been uploaded on Google Play’s Developer Console and is awaiting evaluation. We will actively cooperate with Google Play for any concern caused by this unintentional error. In the meantime, users can still download UC Browser Mini from the Play Store, an alternative version of UC Browser.  We thank Google Play for their understanding and support extended to us. UC Browser new product package will be back on Google Play next week and, in the interim, users and partners can download the product from our website http://www.ucweb.com.

Therefore, if you are a UC Browser lover, you need not worry. It will be back to the PlayStore very soon.
