There is a huge security drawback on the Mac devices that run on the latest High Sierra – 10.13.1 (17B48) version and it’s really a bad one. Anyone can log in to the Mac devices just by typing the username as “root”. The company has acknowledged the issue and is working on to provide a fix at the earliest. But, till then we would advise our readers to not leave your Mac devices idle.

One can access this bug very easily by going to preferences and then entering any of the panels which has a lock in the lower left-hand corner. In general, you will be prompted to enter the username and password to proceed further. But, instead of following the regular process, you can just enter the username as “root” and say “TADA” in your mind, you will see that you have proceeded to the next step.
Following this practice will automatically create a root account which can be taken advantage by other users. The worst part is that it doesn’t even need a password. Type “root” and any Mac device will let you right inside it without any hindrances.
This bug was first brought to the limelight by Lemi Orhan Ergin, founder of Software Craftsman Turkey who had gone ahead to publicly share the news on Twitter right after finding it. This is in fact one of the worst bugs the Apple users have ever seen. Because, it will let the intruders to create administrator accounts, change the settings and finally lock out the current owner. That’s why it is highly recommended that you place your Mac devices in a safe place without letting anyone else’s hands on it.
