As expected, the HMD Global announced the company’s latest mid-range smartphone, Nokia 7 in China. The mobile sports 5.2-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and runs on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box. The OS can be upgraded later to Android 8.0 (Oreo). It comes with 16-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.

Display

The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch 2.5D curved glass display at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Platform

It is powered by 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 508 GPU and runs on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box. The OS can be upgraded later to Android 8.0 (Oreo).

Camera

It has 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, ZEISS optics, 1.12um sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 80-degree wide angle and 5MP front camera with 1.12um sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 84˚ wide-angle lens.

Connectivity and Sensors

The device is equipped with fingerprint sensor to provide an extra layer of security besides supporting 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS, USB Type-C and Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD) connectivity features.

Battery and Dimensions

The mobile packs 3000mAh built-in battery with fast charging (9V/2A) and has 141.2 x 71.45 x 7.92mm size measurements.

Price and availability

Nokia 7 will be available in Matte White and Gloss Black colors at a price of 2,499 yuan (US$ 376 / Rs. 24,520 approx.) and 2,699 yuan (US$ 406 / Rs. 26,480 approx.) for the 4 GB RAM and 6 GB RAM variants respectively. The mobile is currently available for pre-order via Tmall, Suning and JD.com in China. It will go on sale in October 24.

Our view on Nokia 7

Nokia 7 is certainly going to fill the slot of a perfect mid-range smartphone in all the markets. The specifications are good. Besides that, it also comes with Nokia OZO audio technology using which you can capture sound from all the directions.
