Xiaomi launched the company’s latest budget smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi 4 in India. It is the successor of the Chinese smartphone maker’s Redmi 3S which was unveiled last year. Though the Redmi 4 runs on MIUI 8 which is based on Android Marshmallow out of the box, you can also test the beta version of the Nougat in the smartphone. Display

The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with 72% NTSC color gamut, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits brightness.

Platform

It is powered by 1.4GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 435 processor with Adreno 505 GPU and runs on MIUI 8 which is based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. As mentioned earlier you can test the beta version of the Nougat in the smartphone. It means the official rollout of the Nougat for Redmi 4 will happen very soon.

Storage

The device comes with 2 GB RAM or 3 GB RAM or 4 GB RAM with 16 GB or 32 GB or 64 GB internal storages that can be expanded to 128 GB using microSD card.

Camera

It has 13-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, PDAF, LED Flash and 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Connectivity and Sensors

The mobile is equipped with Infrared and Fingerprint sensors besides supporting 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) connectivity features.

Redmi 4 packs a 4100 mAh battery and weighs 150 grams with 139.24 x 69.96 x8.65 mm size measurements.

Price and Availability

Redmi 4 will be available in Elegant Gold and Gorgeous Black colors at a price of Rs 6999 for the 2 GB RAM – 16 GB ROM variant, Rs 8999 for the 3 GB RAM – 32 GB ROM variant, Rs 10999 for the 4 GB RAM – 64 GB ROM variants respectively. The mobile will be available for sale from May 23, 12:00 PM via Amazon.in and Mi.com. You may also get the smartphone via Mi Home from May 20 in Bengaluru.
