To be on par with the Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to bring down the prices of Internet packs by about three-fourths. It will cost only Rs 36 to purchase around 1 GB of internet data.

BSNL said in a statement:

“Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to offer up to four times extra data on existing data STVs (special tariff vouchers) available in the market.”

There are other plans too. In the Rs 291 plan, you will get around 8 GB with a validity of 28 days. Earlier, the company used to offer only around 2 GB data in this plan. In addition to that, the Rs 78 plan will provide double data at 2 GB.

Reliance Jio had extended its free services till March 31, 2016 under which the users are able to make unlimited calls and use around 1 GB data at 4G speeds.

Other telecom operators are also busy slashing down the prices and the 1 GB data in most of them costs less than Rs 50.

RK Mittal, BSNL Board Director for Consumer Mobility said:

“We are committed to providing affordable mobile services for all segments of the prepaid mobile customers. These offers will be valid from February 6, 2017, on Pan India basis.”

It took only 3 months for the Reliance Jio to rise up to become the largest broadband service provider with over 52.23 million broadband customers.

However, BSNL still rules the broadband market in the fixed line services section with over 9.95 million customers.
