The security head at Android, Adrian Ludwig has said that the Android Smartphones are as secure as iPhones. This will require installing the regular update in the Android Smartphones just like in iPhones. It means that the Pixel and Pixel XL by Google are as secure as iPhones.

Mr Ludwig said in an interview to Motherboard, “In the long term, the open ecosystem of Android is going to put it in a much better place.” At the O’Reilly Security Conference in New York, he explained on the misunderstood security in Android. According to him, the SafetyNet API will allow the developers to create app which are capable of scanning the device they are installed on for vulnerabilities. It helps to scan 400 million devices every day.

Ludwig said:

“We got quite a bit of work left to do to get to a point where that actually happens on a regular basis across the whole the ecosystem. Google Pixel and an iPhone are pretty much equal when it comes to security.”
