MTNL and BSNL to provide free Wi-Fi at 100 tourist destinations in India

MTNL and BSNL will provide free Wi-Fi at around 100 tourist destinations all over India. The Union Tourism Ministy is in talks with the Telecom providers to make this in effect. Vinod Zutshi, Tourism Secretary said that around 100 tourist places will be found including the world heritage sites to make this plan effective in those places.

MTNL and BSNL will provide the service for seven years. The Tourism Ministry will pay the operational cost for the first three years, he added.

But, he continued to say that a decision was yet to be taken on the charges for the usage of Wi-Fi. It is expected to be free for the first few minutes.

All thanks to the Ministry, the free Wi-Fi service is already available in nearly 30 places such as Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, the ghats of Varanasi, Khajuraho, Bodh Gaya in Bihar, Tirumala Temple in Andhra Pradesh and much more.

Therefore, another 70 places will be added to the list to make the Wi-Fi Services available at no cost to take the tally to a total of 100. Providing free Wifi services will help the people to upload their photos and videos instantly on the Social Networking sites and spread the message across their friends and relatives.
