Ask everyone around you about Google. I am sure you will get different answers from different people. Yes, the Google is more than just a search engine. You can play your favorite video, connect with your friends via its Social networking or email platforms and the list just goes on. Adding as a new “hardware company” to the list, the company has launched its Google Pixel Smartphones.
Although we have been using Android Smartphones for a very long time, there was never a phone like Google Pixel XL that used Android to its best till date. Yes, the results beat even the imaginations of the traditional Nexus Smartphone users. Here in this post, we are going to give you a complete review on Google Pixel XL Smartphone.

- Google Pixel XL Smartphone
Google Pixel XL has got a design which will make other Smartphone manufacturers jealous. It’s not that easy these days to craft a Smartphone. But, Google has not disappointed its fans on the design of Pixel XL. It is just simple and awesome. There is a USB Type-C port and the device is packed with Volume rocker and power button on the right, an analog headphone jack at the top, the SIM Tray on the right and a mono speaker on its bottom edge. Sporting a smooth curve transitioning on the back, the edge of the Google Pixel XL sports a hybrid design of its own.
You will feel the metal when you hold the Smartphone, but it weighs only 168 grams.
Just like the 5.7-inch display of the Nexus 6P, the 5.5-inch screen of Pixel XL also features an AMOLED display at a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Because the Smartphone features an AMOLED display, colors are bold with inky-dark blacks and bright, saturated hues. In our tests, the white balance looks perfectly fine, but the color gamut is a bit over-saturated.
Despite these display specifications and functionalities, you would feel like that it would have been better if the Pixel XL has got a little more brightness during the broad day light. I am not trying to say that you will not be able to view the display when you are under sun, but a slighter increment in the brightness would have been better.
And if you are among those users who read late at night, you would be so happy to have Pixel XL. The brightness levels can be adjusted very low with the “Night Light” feature for a comfortable reading at night.
UI and Functionality
The Google Pixel XL might not have introduced Android Nougat to the world, but it certainly is the first Smartphone to launch Android 7.1 Nougat. This means that new features such as display of notifications, split-screen mode for apps are now available for use.
To access the traditional app drawer, you will have to swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen. The search feature also works in a new manner in the Google Pixel XL. In addition to the Google Search widget, you can access the pop-out search bar by tapping on the corner of the home screen.
Not just that, there is also a new way to open Google Assistant. Besides using the “OK Google” command, you can also do it by holding down the on-screen virtual home button.
Google Pixel XL will understand whether you are located in a shopping center or a restaurant, and will provide you with menus and review etc. of the place which you are in. You can get the fingerprint sensor access to your notifications and much more. If you are stuck anywhere or if you need help, you can always approach Google’s 24/7 Support which is available via both online chat and phone.

Processor and Memory
This year has introduced a lot of Smartphones with Snapdragon 820 processor. In Google Pixel XL, you will find the latest Snapdragon 821 processor. The latest processor by Qualcomm is not very advanced than its predecessor, but sure there are improvements in terms of fast. However, it is the best in the current market.
Google Pixel XL comes with a 4 GB RAM and either 32 GB or 128 GB storage options. There is no microSD expansion slot just like in an Apple device. If you find the 32 GB storage option very less, you can make use of the cloud storage to store your photos and videos.
The combination of the latest Android Software and the latest processor will anyways blow your mind with its results.
Your telecom operator might not be supporting LTE Cat 12 as of now, but when it does, using Google Pixel XL you will be able to download at a tremendous speed of 600 Mbps. After introducing the USB Type-C in Nexus 6P and Nexus 5 X last year, Google is now going on all with the connector in Google Pixel XL.
During the launch of the Smartphone, the company was seen boasting by calling the handset with “the highest rated smartphone camera. Ever.” It is packed with a 12.3 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture. There is no Optical Image Stabilization. However, according to Google, its absence will help the users to take stunning photographs in low light conditions. There is also an 8 MP Selfie cam.
The camera is anyways very fast. Even the HDR function works quite fast without slowing down the Smartphone. Auto HDR is enabled by default and no matter how many times you try to disable the function, when you open the Camera app again, it will be loaded with Auto HDR on.
As mentioned earlier, it will be difficult to take photographs in low light conditions, but the output would have less noise in it.
It offers video recording in 4K. But if you need a video with good quality, I would suggest you to shoot it in a smaller resolution.
When Nexus 6P was launched, it had a couple of dual front-facing speakers. But, Google Pixel XL has got only a single bottom-edge speaker. The sound you hear might not be very loud, but sure it will impress you with the output with balanced, clear and nice sound.
The call quality won’t disappoint you. It is clear as pure water, and you will hear sound like you have never heard before. The size of the device might make you a little uncomfortable to hold and talk, but isn’t that why we have got headphones?
Google Pixel XL is packed with a 3450 mAh battery just like in Nexus 6P. With careful usage, you will be able to use the device for the next day on a single charge. The USB Type-C adapter is a fast charging 18 W component. In fact the best part about the charger is having the USB Type-C support. If the battery is very low, a meagre 15 minutes of charge will help you use the Smartphone for several hours.
As Google Pixel XL is from the family of Google, it has drawn enough attention even before the launch. We’d say if you want to experience the hardware and the software in the best way possible today, you must have this device in your pocket.
