Google Hangouts for Android gets the Video Messaging feature

Google Hangouts for Android has finally got the video messaging feature. The feature was released in the latest update with the version number v11.0. An update with a similar number was also released to the Apple iOS users although they have been using the video messaging feature since February 2014.

The duration was only 10 seconds when the feature was launched. In March year, the duration limit was revised to 1 minute. The latest update has increased the duration limit to 2 minutes in iOS. However, the duration limit in Android is only 1 minute.

The updated app has not been listed yet in the Google Play for Indian users. It will be available very soon.

The update has also added features such as the freedom to remove users from a group conversation. The “Merged conversations” feature that shows both the Hangout Messages and SMSes from the same user has been removed in this update. Google commented about the removal in its support page, “Merged conversations used to let you see your Hangouts messages and text messages in the same conversation. We have decided to remove it, because it caused user confusion and had low usage.”

Let us know if you are really using Google Hangouts over WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger in the comments section below. We would love to hear from you.
