The delivery of Freedom 251 is now delayed, to start from July 6

There is going to be a small delay in the delivery of Freedom 251, world’s cheapest Smartphone at Rs 251 (< $4). According to the makers of the Smartphone, the delivery will start from July 6th and not from June 30. Mohit Goel, the Founder and CEO of Ringing Bells says that the company is ready with around 2 lakh Freedom 251 devices.

Goel told IANS, “In the meanwhile, we have prepared a letter requesting a meeting with our Prime Minister to pitch our case as a domestic smartphone maker which wishes to contribute towards ‘Make in India’ initiative.”

“We are planning to organise a launch event in the capital on July 7, a day after starting the delivery,” said Goel.”

To recall, Freedom 251 sports a 4-inch display and is powered by 1 GB RAM and a Quad-core processor that is clocked at 1.3GHz. It has a 3.2 MP primary camera and 0.3 MP Selfie Camera. The device supports only 3G and boasts GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with a battery of 1450 mAh.
