Telegram wants to work alone, denies holding talks with Google

There were rumors and reports regarding the acquisition of Telegram by Google for the past few weeks. Putting all those rumors to an end, Telegram denied and confirmed that the company is not really looking forward to be acquired by anyone anytime sooner.

As far as the rumors surrounding the deal are concerned, the executives from Google are reportedly said to have met the CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov with an offer of $1 billion.

“This is complete bullshit. There were no acquisition talks, no plans for any such thing either,” confirmed a spokesperson to TNW.

Telegram also confirmed that the company is focused on enhancing the security in its app that has over 100 million active users every month. In addition to that, the company is also said to be working on integrating bots, the next generation technology in its app.

Telegram hasn’t started earning from its services yet. The app is also facing tough competition from its rival app, WhatsApp which added end-to-end encryption recently. So, an acquisition by Google could have helped the company to get better than its expectations. However, it is still early to comment on such things as the Telegram is very firm on working alone.
