This move by Amazon tells us that the company is very serious about games as well as Virtual Reality. Although the platform doesn’t support the Virtual Reality yet, Amazon has described its intentions very clearly in its website that it is very serious about the Virtual Reality. “Amazon Lumberyard is available today in beta for developers building PC and console games. Mobile and VR platforms coming soon.

As Amazon Web services is associated with Twitch, a live streaming video platform, getting fans for the game that you’d develop will be only a few steps away, because, Twitch has over 100 million monthly active viewers and 1.7 million monthly broadcasters.

In Lumberyard, the developers can interact using the Twitch Chat feature. At the same time, using the Twitch JoinIn feature, a broadcaster can invite a member of chat audience into the game.

Even the non-technical users can develop a game out of Lumberyard as it sports a simple GUI where every element can be dragged and dropped easily. And for those of you who are developers, you can dig a lot using the full C++ Source Code that comes with the download.

Lumberyard would work great on PCs with Windows 7 64-bit, 8+ GB RAM, a 3GHz+ quad-core processor, and a 2+ GB DX11+ compatible video card.

Lumberyard by Amazon is absolutely free and you will not have to pay money from your pocket unless you choose to use AWS Services. However, it is still in the beta stage and the stable version is expected to come after integrating features to control the Mobile and VR platforms.

Let us know in your comments on how you would use the Lumberyard to develop your idea into a game.
