When introduced, this new feature will considerably improve the Hangouts Video Calls and audio quality of the calls, because, the number of loops to carry the data of your call will be reduced as the servers won’t be of much use to facilitate the establishment of the call. So, there won’t be much load on the Google’s servers during the whole process to connect your call.

On the other hand, usage of this new function will lead to the sharing of IP Addresses of both callers between each other. However, this is not going to be a big problem for most of you as your friends and family know where you are and who you are hanging out with. But in cases where you don’t want to reveal your real location, you will have to think twice before placing the call. For instance, when you attend a new interview through a call and if you have shared the wrong location, your interviewer will find out that you have lied.

If a peer-to-peer connection can’t be established, the servers of Google will anyways continue to work in order to connect your call.

Google has been working a lot on Hangouts very recently. The most previous update introduced a handful of exciting features and fixed a ton of small bugs.

This new feature is being rolled out to the users in Android. For those of you who haven’t got the update, please be patient as it will be available to you very soon. It is not available in the iOS devices yet and is expected to be available very soon.
