Amazon India ended its refund services for all mobile phones

Amazon India ended its refund services for all mobile phones. Mobile phones purchased on or after February 7 are not eligible for a refund. The customers will have to opt for a replacement instead of the refund. This is applicable to all mobile phones including the ones that are fulfilled by Amazon (FBA).

According to the statement in Amazon’s website, “All Mobile phones that are fulfilled by Amazon, purchased on or after 7th February 2016, will have a replacement only policy. Mobile phone items that are fulfilled by Amazon will no longer be eligible for refunds.

Even in the case of replacement, customers will be able to replace their mobile phones only if they choose to do so within 10 days. “In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone, you will be eligible for a free replacement,” stated Amazon in its webpage for Refund and Return policies.

However, Customers can continue to get refund for a handful of other products which are eligible for a return.

On the other hand, Flipkart still offers the refund services for certain mobile phones depending on the seller. For instance, Huawei Nexus 6P which is available exclusively on Flipkart is eligible for a refund if the customer returns the product within 30 days.

Snapdeal, another leading e-Commerce firm in the country offers its customers a strict return/replacement service. For a replacement or refund in Snapdeal, the customers will have to visit the nearest Service center and get the device approved with “is a defective product” status.

India is one of the few countries where online retailers are not very strict in the case of return/replacement of a purchased product. As Amazon has taken the initiative, other leading e-commerce firms are also expected to follow the same path.
