YouTube one of the most visited video-sharing website headquartered in San Bruno, California was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim in February 2005. YouTube’s first ever video, Me at the zoo, was uploaded by Karim on April 23, 2005 and since then people across the world has been using this website to upload, view, and share videos on this website. In November 2006, it was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion and it now operates as one of Google’s subsidiaries.

Having said that here are the top 10 most watched YouTube videos of all time. Well you should not be surprised to see that they are all music videos and although it is still blocked in China the number of views on these videos is more than 1 billion.

1. “Gangnam Style” – 2.49 billion views (PSY)

Gangnam Style song was released on July 15, 2012 by South Korean singer Psy and on December 21, 2012, it became the first YouTube video to reach one billion views. This music video went viral due to its catchy beat and Psy’s amusing dance moves in the music video. The phrase “Gangnam Style” is a Korean neologism that refers to a lifestyle associated with the Gangnam District of Seoul.

2. “Blank Space” – 1.40 billion views (Taylor Swift)

Blank Space is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and it was released on November 10, 2014. This song was a critical and commercial success and in July 2015 it became the fourth video to reach 1 billion views. It’s also the most viewed music video by a female artist on YouTube and the second most viewed video overall.

3. “See You Again” – 1.35 billion views (Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth)

See You Again is a song recorded by American rapper Wiz Khalifa featuring American singer Charlie Puth. The track was commissioned for the soundtrack of the 2015 action film Furious 7 as a tribute to the late Paul Walker. It was released on March 17, 2015 and a global commercial success, becoming both Khalifa’s and Puth’s biggest hit to date.

4. “Uptown Funk” – 1.29 billion views (Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars)

Uptown Funk is a song recorded by British producer Mark Ronson, with vocals from American singer Bruno Mars. It was released on 10 November 2014 and set a new record for the highest number of streams in one week in the US, with 4.8 million streams. The video received its billionth view on YouTube on 15 September 2015.

5. “Baby” – 1.28 billion views (Justin Bieber ft. Ludacris)

Baby is a song recorded by Canadian recording artist Justin Bieber. It was released on January 18, 2010. This music video is the fifth most-viewed video all-time on YouTube, and also one of the YouTube video with the most dislikes.

6. “Shake it Off” – 1.27 billion views (Taylor Swift)

Shake It Off is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. It was released during a Yahoo! live stream session on August 18, 2014. The song won Favorite Song at the 2015 People’s Choice Awards, and also received nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

7. “Dark Horse” – 1.25 billion views (Katie Perry ft. Juicy J)

Dark Horse is a song recorded by American singer Katy Perry featuring rapper Juicy J. It was originally released on September 17, 2013, by Capitol Records. This song combines the genres of trap and hip hop, replicating what has been described as a “Southern rap-techno mashup”.

8. “Bailando” – 1.24 billion views (Enrique Iglesias ft. Descemer Bueno and Gente De Zona)

Bailando (English: “Dancing”) is a song by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias. As of 24 August 2014, there are three other versions of the song that have been released to the music market besides the original Spanish version. According to the IFPI, Bailando was the tenth best-selling song of 2014 with sales of 8 million copies worldwide.

9. “Roar” – 1.22 billion views (Katy Perry)

Roar is a song by American singer Katy Perry and it was released on August 10, 2013. The song was a commercial success, becoming Perry’s eighth non-consecutive number one song on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and also topping charts in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

10. “All About That Bass” – 1.21 billion views (Meghan Trainor)

All About That Bass is the debut single by American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor released on June 30, 2014. It received favorable reviews from music critics for its melody and vintage sound, though some accused Trainor of anti-feminism for its lyrics. It was named one of the best songs of 2014 by several publications and received Grammy Award nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
